runireland.com - Ireland's running community website

runireland.com is Ireland's premier running website, providing running news and event listings as well as a thriving discussion board and online entry to races.

This sites pushed me to my limits as a developer, and at the end of the project I know a hell of a lot more about Drupal than when I started.

The site itself aims to be a one-stop shop for the Irish running community. A broad range of contributors provide news stories on a wide range of topics. The most comprehensive listing of races in Ireland is available at the site. Online entry to many races is available.

My favourite feature is the running event map listing all the races. This a google map of the races, populating dynamically from the database listing. At the time, this was a tricky job, but Drupal has moved on and this is now a simpler afair to do.

The Ecommerce engine in use is the Ecommerce module on Drupal. Initially, the focus was on event entry and the module handles that pretty well with some custom modules to capture the participant details.

Now that some merchandise is on sale, we're going to look to move to the Ubercart engine, but that means re-writing some modules, both at the front and back end.

The main man behind the site is Seb Loctueau, and as soon as I can organise some time, he has a plethora of ideas to improve and advance the site.
